Red Sox Come Back Late to Clip Royals
The Boston Red Sox faced a tough opponent in Kansas City pitcher Justin Thompson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Royals Stadium by a final score of 4-2. Thompson went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Boston reliever Mark Thompson picked up the win, upping his record to 4-9. Kevin Rogers was saddled with the loss. Andrew Lorraine notched his 1st save in 2 chances.

The Red Sox beat the Royals in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Kevin Morgan produced in the top of the ninth. Batting against Kansas City pitcher Kevin Rogers, Morgan gave his team a 4-2 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"I felt good up there," said Morgan. "I saw the ball well."

Even with the win, the Red Sox have a dismal 39-89 record.
