Multi-HR Game for Castilla in 16-4 Win
A 3-RBI performance from Vinny Castilla, who is a two-time All-Star, helped the San Diego Padres beat the New York Mets, 16-4. Ismael Valdez picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 10-12. New York has now lost 4 straight.

San Diego relied on the bat of Mike Lieberthal to get the win. The catcher ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Padres ahead, 3-0. For the game, Lieberthal had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We take it day by day here," said Castilla, "and today was a good one for us."
