The Danville Dairy Daddies put the giddy home crowd in an even more jubilant mood after beating the Rochester Red Wings in the season opener at Kernels Ballpark. Right Fielder Miguel Mejia won player of the game plaudits for Danville. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Pedro F. Borbon recorded the save for Danville, his 1st of the season.

Flexing his muscles for Danville was the aforementioned Mejia. The left fielder had a 3-run home run in the bottom of the second for the Dairy Daddies. It put his team ahead, 3-0, and sent them on to victory.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Mejia said.
