Whalers Bump Off Dairy Daddies, 7-3
|
The Hartford Whalers racked up a win at Wolves Ballpark, bumping off the Danville Dairy Daddies, 7-3. Bobby Chouinard, who started for Hartford, pitched effectively for his team. Chouinard went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. Picking up the save was Paul Byrd, his 3rd.
The Whalers got an important contribution from first baseman Felipe Crespo, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 3-1 fastball into right for a 2-run single. It was his 9th hit of the season and put the Whalers ahead, 4-0.
"Bobby's tempo and rhythm were good," said Whalers manager . "He was the key to us winning."
Losses have been few and far between for the Dairy Daddies, who are now 6-1.
