Dairy Daddies Deal Cyclones Painful Loss
|
The Danville Dairy Daddies downed the Brooklyn Cyclones, 4-3, at Kernels Ballpark. The Dairy Daddies were led by Paul Konerko, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Danville reliever Pedro F. Borbon got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jim Mecir was tagged with the loss. The Dairy Daddies, now 7-1, have stormed out of the gates.
Konerko came through for Danville with no one out in the bottom of the 11th. With Danville tied 3-3, Konerko hit a run-scoring single. It was his 17th hit of the season and put the Dairy Daddies up, 4-3.
Konerko said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
