The Asheville Moonshiners did just enough to sneak past the Danville Dairy Daddies, 5-4, at Kernels Ballpark. Asheville pitcher Ken Cloude earned player of the game honors. Cloude got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Cloude allowed 3 earned runs. Jeff Juden nailed down his 2nd save.

Asheville first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz contributed to the cause with a 2-run double in the top of the first. For the game, Mientkiewicz went 2-5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Moonshiners manager . "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."

Even with the win, it has been a disastrous start to the year for the Moonshiners, who once had aspirations of returning to the playoffs but now find themselves mired in last place at 5-14.
