Whalers Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The Hartford Whalers knocked off the Bluff City Beasties, 11-6, at Ravens Ballpark. Mark DeRosa, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Hartford won. The designated hitter went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jack Armstrong got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 5 hits in 4.2 innings. Hartford has now won 4 games in a row.
Hartford used the timely hitting of Alex Ochoa to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Whalers on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but he made it count.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Hartford manager .
