Victory Over Blue Crabs Takes Hartford to 58-34
|
The Hartford Whalers got a stellar performance from pitcher Shawn Estes, who handcuffed the Ocean City offense en route to a 5-1 win at Fire Dogs Ballpark. In 6.1 innings, Estes surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Hartford has a 3-game win streak, while Ocean City has lost 3 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Hartford, had it not been for Mark DeRosa, the 23-year old third baseman . DeRosa contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Hartford up, 1-0.
"We've got a great group of guys," Estes said, "and we're having fun right now."
