Multi-HR Day for Hrbek as Blue Crabs Overpower Beasties, 11-3
|
The Ocean City Blue Crabs knocked off the Bluff City Beasties, 11-3, at Fire Dogs Ballpark. Kent Hrbek, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Ocean City won. The first baseman went 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Ocean City starter Darrell May was credited with the win after throwing 77 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 5-1. Pep Harris earned his 3rd save in 5 chances.
The Blue Crabs got a lift from designated hitter Garey Ingram, who in the bottom of the first stroked a 0-1 fastball into center for a 2-run single. It was his 39th hit of the season and put the Blue Crabs ahead, 3-1.
"The vibe's good," said Ocean City manager . "We've got to keep it going."
The slumping Beasties have lost 6 straight.
