Bisons Drop Clippers with Late Score
|
The Buffalo Bisons topped the Columbus Clippers by the score of 7-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to pinch hitter Matt Stairs. Stairs went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Bisons on the day. John H. Doherty was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Today's win puts Buffalo at 59-46, while Columbus falls to 53-52.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Buffalo pinch hitter Matt Stairs. In the top of the ninth inning, with one out and the bases loaded, Stairs hit a grand slam to help Buffalo seize the win.
"Enjoyed this one," Stairs told the Buffalo Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
