The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Riverfront Stadium, knocking off the Charlotte Knights, 5-4. On the mound for Cincinnati was right-hander Jose Rijo, who played a pivotal role in the win. Losses have been few and far between for the Knights so far this season. Their record drops to 13-7.

Fernando Vina went 1-2 with a hit by pitch for Cincinnati. The top prospect had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bret Saberhagen. It was his 5th RBI of the season.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Charlotte manager Tyler Vuxta. "But we decided not to take it."
