Chicago Cubs starter LaTroy Hawkins was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Boston Red Sox, 5-2. In 7 innings, Hawkins surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Alberto Reyes picked up the save for Chicago, his 4th of the year.
Jose Vidro drew 1 walk, while adding 3 RBI for Chicago. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Mark Thompson. It was his 7th walk of the season.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez.
Chicago is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 8th in 20 games.
