Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Missions
The rain came, as predicted, but the San Antonio Missions and Spokane River Rats were able to complete their ballgame.

The Missions had to overcome a fine effort from Spokane pitcher Scott Eyre to grab a narrow 7-6 win at Texans Stadium. Eyre went 7 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. San Antonio reliever Mauro Gozzo picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Mike Magnante was collared with the loss.

There were several reasons the Missions beat the River Rats, but one factor was Doug Glanville. In the bottom of the ninth, the San Antonio center fielder came to bat and hit a walk-off bases-clearing double. It staked his team to a 7-6 lead.

"It feels good to get this one," Glanville told the San Antonio Citizen.

The River Rats drop to 6-6 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1998 season.
