Victory Pushes Rainiers Record to 10-6
|
Tacoma and Spokane duked it out at Foxes Ballpark and the Rainiers came out victorious.
The Tacoma Rainiers dealt the Spokane River Rats a loss at Foxes Ballpark. The final score was 9-6. Ricky Otero was named player of the game for Tacoma. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 triple, he scored 1 run and drove in 3. Ryan Dempster earned the win for Tacoma. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1.
One significant plate appearance for Tacoma came with two out in the top of the fifth inning. Rainiers left fielder Micah Franklin drew a walk, driving in 1 run, which helped Tacoma go on to win.
Otero expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The River Rats fall to 7-9 and continue their wobbly start to the 1998 season.
