McLemore Delivers Walk-Off Win for Sky Sox
|
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox relied on the hitting of third baseman Orlando Miller to stop the Portland Stag, 5-4. For the game, Miller went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Colorado Springs reliever Curtis King was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Kerry Ligtenberg took the loss for Portland. The Stag fall to 8-11 and continue their uneven start to the 1998 season.
An important at-bat for the Sky Sox came in the bottom of the ninth, when second baseman Mark McLemore stroked a solo home run. That made the score 5-4 in favor of Colorado Springs. For the day, McLemore went 1 for 3 with a home run.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Miller said after the game.
