Leyritz Lifts Brass to 10-6 Triumph
|
It was a good time at Bay Hawks Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Portland Stag and New Orleans Brass get after it.
Jim Leyritz knocked in 3 runs to help New Orleans beat Portland, 10-6. Leyritz produced 3 singles and 1 home run. Angel Miranda earned the win for New Orleans. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 11. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2.
Leyritz contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for New Orleans in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Leyritz took a curveball from Dave Burba and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Brass to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Leyritz.
The win brings the Brass to 15-8, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
