River Rats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Buzz
John Mabry helped his team muscle past the Salt Lake City Buzz, 8-6. In the game, the Spokane first baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Joel Johnston finished the game for Spokane and earned his 1st save. The second-place River Rats improved to 20-12.

Spokane used the timely hitting of Kevin Millar to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the River Rats on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"The more wins we pile up," said Mabry, "the more I like our chances."
