The Nashville Sounds relied on the hitting of designated hitter Ken Ramos to stop the Portland Stag, 9-7. For the game, Ramos went 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Nashville reliever Mike DeJean picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Vic Darensbourg shouldered the loss. Mitch Williams sewed up the save, his 4th.
Going deep for Nashville was Mike Kinkade. The first baseman had a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning for the Sounds. It put his team ahead, 9-7, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Kinkade went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Ramos.
The last-place Sounds improved to 12-20.
