Stag Get Past Naperville for 2-1 Win
The Portland Stag did just enough to sneak past the Naperville Lazy Fisherman, 2-1, at Tuttle Fields. Portland pitcher Brett Tomko earned player of the game honors. Portland reliever Will Cunnane picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Shigetoshi Hasegawa took the loss. The Stag, now 18-28, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.

Robin Ventura was 2-4 with 2 singles for Portland. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the eighth, Ventura came through with a run-scoring single. It put the Stag in front, 2-1.

"I just try to put up zeroes," said Tomko, "and let the rest take care of itself."
