Brass Get One-Run Win at Portland
|
Portland got a terrific performance from first baseman Scott Stahoviak, but it wasn't enough to beat the New Orleans Brass. New Orleans won the Tuttle Fields contest, 8-7. Stahoviak was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. New Orleans is now 33-22, Portland 20-35.
The Brass used some clutch hitting to beat the Stag, a good example being the at-bat of Jeremy Giambi in the top of the sixth. With two down, Giambi gave his team the lead, 7-6, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Giambi said. "We did a good job of that today."
