The Tucson Tarantulas had to overcome a big game from Portland first baseman Scott Stahoviak to leave Tuttle Fields with a 6-5 victory. Stahoviak was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. With the win, the Tarantulas have a record of 31-30.

Hector Villanueva produced a go-ahead single for Tucson in the top of the ninth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Villanueva hit a run-scoring single off Vic Darensbourg. It put the Tarantulas in front, 6-5.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Tucson manager .
