Buzz Hold Off Stag, 6-5
Portland got a terrific game from first baseman Scott Stahoviak. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Salt Lake City, 6-5. Stahoviak was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Bob Howry, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 15th save. Salt Lake City occupies third place in the Pacific West at 36-30.

Salt Lake City relied on the bat of Carlos A. Martinez to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Buzz ahead, 2-0. For the game, Martinez had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

Martinez called the triumph "a good team win."
