Chamberlain Excels, But River Rats Win
Portland left fielder Wes Chamberlain pounded Spokane River Rats pitchers at Foxes Ballpark, but it was not enough to keep the Stag from falling, 10-8. Chamberlain hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Joel Johnston in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Allen McDill took the loss. This win makes it 5 in a row for Spokane.

The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the eighth inning, when the River Rats were trailing 8-7. Mike Simms delivered a two-out 3-run home run for Spokane, catapulting his team into the lead.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Spokane manager .
