Ortiz, Danville Start World Series Strong with Home Win
The Danville Dairy Daddies started the World Series in style today, downing the visiting Spokane River Rats at Kernels Ballpark by a score of 8-6 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Dairy Daddies designated hitter David Ortiz was named player of the game after he was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

The Dairy Daddies beat the River Rats with some clutch hitting. The single by Todd Hollandsworth in the bottom of the seventh is a good example. With two down, Hollandsworth gave his team the lead, 8-6, when he came through with the big hit.

"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Hollandsworth said in postgame remarks.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Kernels Ballpark in Danville. The scheduled starters for the game are Scott Eyre for Spokane and Chris Bosio for Danville.
