Padres Deal Blue Jays Painful Loss
The San Diego Padres topped the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2, in United League action at Jack Murphy Stadium. The player of the game was San Diego pitcher Andy Ashby. San Diego reliever Mike Henneman picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jose RF Santiago shouldered the loss. San Diego has now won 5 games in a row.

Tony Clark was the walk-off hero for San Diego. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Padres pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said San Diego manager Matt Dodds.
