Cleveland Spiders starter Bob Sebra was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Cincinnati Reds, 2-1. Cleveland reliever Steve Karsay picked up the win to move to 1-7. Brian Shouse suffered the loss. Jose Jimenez finished the game for Cleveland and earned his 1st save.
The result might have been different for Cleveland, had it not been for Tomas Perez. The shortstop produced a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Spiders ahead, 2-1. For the game, Perez had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Cincinnati manager John Frey.
Even with the win, the Spiders have a dismal 13-26 record.
