Cincinnati rode a fine outing from starter Jose Rijo to victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The final score was 8-0. The winning pitcher was Rijo, now 4-4. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7. The second-place Reds have won 5 in a row.
Cincinnati used the clutch hitting of Bobby Higginson to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to give the Reds the lead, 2-0. For the game, Higginson had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
