Red Sox Stymie Cleveland, Take 4-1 Win
The Boston Red Sox got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher John Ericks, but it was good enough for the club to take a 4-1 decision over the Cleveland Spiders. Ericks, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 4 walks. Roberto Hernandez closed the door for Boston, picking up his 3rd save of the year.

The Red Sox picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Cleveland manager .

The Red Sox go to 22-35, putting them 5th in the Federal League East Division.
