Rockies Prove Rude Guests, Win 3-1 at New York
Colorado rode a fine outing from starter Jose Rijo to victory over the New York Mets at Shea Stadium. The final score was 3-1. The winning pitcher was Rijo, now 1-0. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Colorado, at 37-36, sits in 4th place in the United League West Division.

Colorado relied on the hitting of Damion Easley to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rockies on top, 2-1. For the game, Easley had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Colorado skipper Joe Gratefuldad.
