Mets Win at San Diego, 6-4
The New York Mets knocked off the San Diego Padres, 6-4. New York starter Frank Castillo pitched well enough to earn top player honors. The Mets now have a record of 46-30.

It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Gary Sheffield, the two-time Most Valuable Player winner . Sheffield contributed a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 6-0.

"I'd like to pitch a complete game every time," said Castillo.
