Red Sox Win Thriller, 9-8
|
The Boston Red Sox got a rain-soaked win over the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park.
Minnesota center fielder Darin Erstad had a good game, even if his team did not. The Twins dropped a 9-8 decision to Boston at Fenway Park. Erstad was 3-6 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 runs. Boston reliever Doug Piatt picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Paul Spoljaric was collared with the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Boston right fielder Todd Hollandsworth, facing Paul Spoljaric, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Red Sox the 9-8 win.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Hollandsworth said.
Boston goes to 6-3 with the win.
