Cincinnati-New York Trade: Cedeno for Johnson Friday, July 31st, 1998 BNN has learned the Cincinnati Reds have reportedly worked out a deal with the New York Mets. Sources close to the Reds indicated that a trade has been reached in principle where 34-year-old LHP Randy Johnson will be swapped to Cincinnati with 23-year-old LF Roger Cedeno, 34-year-old RHP Doug Henry and 23-year-old RHP Mac Suzuki heading to New York. Neither organization would comment on the report, saying it was club policy not to speak about a trade until it was finalized. This year Cedeno has collected a .291 batting average to date with 32 hits in 110 at-bats, 10 RBIs, 1 home run and scored 21 times. He has played in 35 games. So far this year Johnson has made 22 starts, tossed 154.1 innings, struck out 145 batters and walked 55. His record is 9-6 with a 3.85 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .219 batting average. |
