Rockies, Athletics Confirm Deal Friday, July 31st, 1998 It's all done except the paperwork. The Colorado Rockies and the Oakland Athletics have agreed to a trade that will send 36-year-old minor league LF Darryl Strawberry and 27-year-old CF Doug Glanville to Oakland, while 34-year-old minor league LF Bip Roberts will be shipped to Colorado. A top front office executive with the Rockies described the trade talks as "quick and easy." "We're glad to get this deal done. We think it's something that helps our ball club and it didn't take too long at all to sort this one out," he said. This year Strawberry is batting .143 with 19 hits, 5 home runs, 10 RBIs, 21 walks, .265 OBP and has scored 11 runs. This year Roberts is hitting .210 with 1 home run and 5 RBIs in 28 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .263 with 6 walks and 7 runs scored. |
