Orlando's Frank Wills Suffers Setback
Saturday, August 15th, 1998
Just when it looked like Frank Wills would soon return to the Orlando Devil Rays, the reliever suffered yet another setback in his recovery from rotator cuff tendinitis. According to his doctors, treatment was progressing well until yesterday, when Wills experienced quite a bit of pain during a workout. Further examination revealed he had caused more damage and would now be disabled for at least 2 weeks.
To date this year, he has registered 16 saves, 2 wins and 4 losses with a 2.81 ERA. Wills has made 37 relief appearances, worked a total of 48 innings and surrendered 32 hits. He has fanned 36, issued 19 free passes and held opposing clubs to a .188 batting average.
