Marlins Turn Back Boston, 6-4
|
Florida Marlins starter Butch Henry pitched effectively against the Boston Red Sox at Joe Robbie Stadium. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 6-4 win. Henry, now 11-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 4 earned runs. Bryan Harvey converted his 23rd save in 27 tries.
Florida took the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a big hit from Quinton McCracken. On a first pitch fastball from Marty Bystrom, McCracken hit a 2-run single. That made it 2-1, Marlins. For the day, McCracken went 1 for 3, while adding 2 RBI.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Henry told the Florida Times.
The last-place Red Sox have lost 11 consecutive games.
