Victory Over Mets Takes Montreal to 80-47
The Montreal Expos dealt the New York Mets a 8-5 loss at Shea Stadium. Sean Casey was the star on offense. He was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Jon Lieber got the win, improving to 12-6. He worked 9 innings, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The Expos bumped their record to 80-47 with this latest triumph.

Montreal used the bat of Gregg Jefferies to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Expos ahead, 6-5. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Casey said.
