Beasties Win at Ocean City, 4-1
|
Mike K Johnson never let the Blue Crabs get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Beasties to a 4-1 win. Johnson got the win, improving to 1-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. Johnson allowed 1 earned run. Mike Fyhrie sewed up the save, his 8th.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the third, with the game tied, Jeff Treadway was at the plate when Bluff City scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Beasties to go in front, 2-1.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Ocean City skipper . "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
Bluff City is in 5th place in the Atlantic Southeast with a record of 14-16.
