Right Fielder Timmons gets 3 RBI, Steals Spotlight in Jacksonville Rout
|
The Rochester Red Wings and Jacksonville Suns cranked it up at Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale.
Behind the bravura of right fielder Ozzie Timmons, the Jacksonville Suns topped the Rochester Red Wings by the score of 13-3. Timmons was 2-4 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Suns. Jack McDowell got credit for the win, improving to 7-8. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 9 innings.
With Jacksonville leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Timmons hit a 2-run single off Rochester hurler Chris Michalak. It was the 99th hit of the season for Timmons and put his team ahead, 4-1.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Timmons told the Jacksonville Herald. "It's as simple as that."
Jacksonville is in 4th place in the Atlantic Southeast with a record of 41-42.
