The Tucson Tarantulas and Portland Stag cranked it up at Ballpark of Louisville.
The Portland Stag defeated the Tucson Tarantulas, 8-5. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Wes Chamberlain, who was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Gary Haught picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Sean Bergman was tagged with the loss. Vic Darensbourg earned the save for Portland, his 9th of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Portland, had it not been for Justin Baughman, the 23-year old second baseman . Baughman contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Portland up, 6-5.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Portland manager .
At 14-15, the Stag find themselves in 5th place in the Pacific West.
