Tarantulas Squelch Rainiers Offense in Shutout Win
The Tucson Tarantulas picked up a win at Ballpark of Louisville, knocking off the Tacoma Rainiers, 5-0. Starting pitcher Kevin Tapani played a key role in the triumph. Tapani picked up the win for Tucson, going 8.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 10 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. The losses continue to mount for Tacoma, which has now dropped 6 in a row.

An important at-bat for the Tarantulas came in the bottom of the sixth, when shortstop Pablo Martinez stroked a 3-run home run. That made the score 5-0 in favor of Tucson. For the day, Martinez was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Martinez told the Tucson Times.
