River Rats Finish Off Stag in 12
The Spokane River Rats did just enough to sneak past the Portland Stag, 3-2, at Tuttle Fields. Spokane pitcher Rick Helling earned player of the game honors. The winner was Joel Johnston in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Will Cunnane took the loss. The second-place River Rats have won 4 straight.

Late-game drama came in the top of the 11th inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Andy Fox, hit a single. It helped Spokane seize the win.

"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Helling said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
