Sky Sox Lose, 5-4, at Tuttle Fields
|
The Portland Stag stopped the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 5-4, behind an impressive performance from Chris Widger. The 27-year old catcher made life miserable for Colorado Springs pitching. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. At 52-66, the Stag are currently last in the Pacific West.
The Stag got a big at-bat from left fielder Wes Chamberlain. For the game, Chamberlain was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 20th double of the season gave Portland a 4-2 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Colorado Springs manager said following the tough loss.
