Victory Over Tigers Takes Toronto to 24-14
The Toronto Blue Jays got a good effort from starter Melido Perez in defeating the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium. The final score was 6-2. Frank Wills closed the game out for Toronto, earning his 8th save. The Blue Jays have an impressive 24-14 record.

It could have been a different outcome for Toronto, had it not been for Mark McGwire, the slugging first baseman . McGwire contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Toronto up, 2-0.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," McGwire told the Toronto Herald.
