Red Sox Lose to Knights, 6-5
|
The Charlotte Knights got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Jeff D. Robinson, but it was good enough for the club to take a 6-5 decision over the Boston Red Sox. Robinson, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 4 earned runs. Charlotte has an impressive 31-15 record.
The Knights got a lift from center fielder Carl Everett, who in the top of the seventh stroked a 1-1 fastball into center for a run-scoring single. It was his 42nd hit of the season and put the Knights ahead, 4-3.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Robinson told the Charlotte Bulletin. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
