Phillies Bang Out 8-4 Win Versus Boston
|
The Philadelphia Phillies stopped the Boston Red Sox, 8-4, behind an impressive performance from A J Pierzynski. The 21-year old catcher made life miserable for Boston pitching. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. At 30-39, the Phillies are currently 4th in the Federal League East Division.
Had Gabe Kapler not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Kapler hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Phillies.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Kapler.
