Kansas City right-hander Jeff C D'Amico made an effective start against the Boston Red Sox at Royals Stadium, leading his team to a 6-5 win. The Royals go to 46-33, putting them second in the Federal League Central Division.

The Royals got a lift from second baseman Roberto Alomar, who in the bottom of the ninth stroked a first pitch fastball into left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Royals ahead, 6-5.

"This place was electric at the end," Alomar said.
